ESPN is reporting that oft-suspended South Carolina quarterback Stephen “Can I Have One More Chance?’ Garcia has now been removed from the team PERMANENTLY. As most of you will recall, in his 9+ years as a student-athlete with the Gamecocks, Garcia has been suspended numerous times (we counted six) for various minor infractions of school rules. Most recently in April he got in trouble for “unacceptable conduct at a life-skills seminar” whatever that means. In reality, Garcia made the mistake of sucking on the field this season and was replaced last Saturday by Conner Shaw, a player likely to give coach Steve Spurrier fewer sleepless nights . . . at least when it comes to his off-field activities.

Or is it the sixth time he’s gotten a second chance? Who knows anymore? The latest incident happened back in April when Garcia was suspended indefinitely for “violating team rules” for what was reportedly was disruptive behavior and that fact that he smelled of alcohol during an SEC-mandated leadership event. Stay classy South Carolina!
