BadJocks Update: Former Bengals Cheerleader Sarah Jones Accepts Plea Deal, Walks Out of Courtroom with Boy Toy

UPDATE #2 – Oh no she didn’t! According to reports, after Sarah Jones pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old male student at the Kentucky high school where she worked a teacher, the pair walked out of the courtroom, hand-in-hand.  (The young lovers are pictured at right: he’s the one with the pixelated face and sore shoulder from all the high fives he got from his friends after banging not only a teacher, but an NFL cheerleader.)  This, after months of Jones denying the charges or that there was even a relationship and that “the truth eventually will come out.” (Side note: any time someone says that, the truth is already very well known and nothing new EVER comes out.)  And–surprise!–not only did Jones not get any jail time (basically five years of probation) she also doesn’t even have to register as a sex offender.  Can anyone imagine a male teacher or coach getting the same slap on the wrist and the reaction of the media if he walked out of court with a barely legal teen?  (Read all of our posts related to this incident here.)

On top of that, Jones’ mother, Cheryl Jones, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted tampering with physical evidence, and also got off without serving and jail time. The former school principal (who lost her job as a result of this incident) admitted she sent the “victim” a text message telling him to get rid of his cell phone which contained incriminating messages between him and Sarah. So two careers ruined because she couldn’t say no to a young stud. Hope everyone’s happy now.

UPDATE#1 – Wasn’t it just a few months ago that former high school teacher/Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones was telling everyone who would listen that she “wasn’t the female Sandusky” in reference to charges that she had sex with an underage male student at Dixie Heights High School?  Here’s a quote from her ABC News interview back in July:

“People don’t know the real me. There’s blogs and postings out there that I have slept with numerous people. I married my high school sweetheart,” said Jones. “I just asked the general public to maybe hold their judgment a little bit longer until the truth comes out.”

Jones’ lawyer, Eric Deters, filed a motion to dismiss all charges because of a lack of evidence. “They have no evidence that sexual relations of any type took place in any of the 50 United States of America,” Deters told ABC News station WCPO.

Jones stood by her innocence in the case until late last week when a judge decided that the text messages between she and the boy WOULD be allowed as evidence in the trial which was to start this week.  Once that happened, Jones and her lawyer started singing a different tune and over the weekend reached a plea agreement to avoid what could have been an ugly trial.  No word on how much jail time Jones will get, but likely it won’t be as much as a male teacher in a similar situation because she’s pretty.

Defense Attorney in Bengals Cheeerleader Sex Trial Might Ask for Postponement Due to “Voluminous” Amount of Evidence – Sarah Jones

You all remember Sarah Jones, don’t you? She’s the former Ben-Gal cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals who was accused, several years ago, by a website of getting or giving STDs to members of the team. She sued the site, won millions of dollars (which she has not been able to collect from what I understand) and then suddenly resigned her “day job” as a high school teacher last fall. This spring she was charged with having sex with one of her underage male students. Next up is her trial, but that could be postponed as it looks like the local police have MORE than done their job this time.

According to Fox 19 the defense just received the pile of evidence the prosecutor has at his disposal, including “. . a DVD which contains some 9,500 pages. In addition, there are 9,000 pages of Facebook material, 5,000 pages of pictures from a photo website called “Shutterfly”, 4,000 pages of phone records, 500 pages of bank records, 200 pages of Twitter correspondence, an unspecified hundreds of pages of emails, and 1,000 text messages.”  Holy crap! Either these guys just copied the entire Internet just for fun, or Ms. Jones has some explaining to do.

So for, Jones (and her mother Cheryl, a middle school principal accused of tampering with a witness) has plead not guilty to the charges, while the family of the “victim” in this case say they are supportive and really don’t want to press charges. So . . . if nothing happened, why are they being supportive?

Stay tuned.

Sarah Jones Update: She Pleads Not Guilty to Sex Charges, Husband Files for Divorce

Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones mug shot pictureFor those of you not keeping score at home, Sarah Jones is a captain on the Ben-Gals cheerleading squad who sued a website called TheDirty a few years ago for falsely posting a story saying she was having sex with Cincinnati Bengals players and got an STD as a result. She sued, got a huge judgement, but hasn’t been able to collect yet.

In the mean time, she got married (9 months ago) and continued at her full time job as a teacher at Dixie Heights High School in Kentucky. Then, suddenly last fall she resigned her job amidst rumors of an affair with a male student. Just recently a grand jury indicted her on first-degree sexual abuse and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities charges. Oh yea, and her mother was also indicted for tampering with evidence.

Now, Jones and her ma have plead not guilty to the charges, the teens family say they support her and don’t want to press charges (but if she’s not guilty, and nothing happened between the two of them, why do they need to support her?) and her unhappy hubby, Nathan Wilburn, has filed for an annulment. He has claimed that the marriage should be annulled, rather than a divorce because “it was never consummated.”  After nine months? Yeah, we’d say there was something wrong here.
