Today’s Inappropriate Jock Endorsement: Ben Roethlisberger for eHarmony

Anyone think the Steeler’s Ben Roethlisberger could be a new pitchman for the love-connection site, eHarmony?

Yeah, me neither. But he is already looking for love in all the wrong places. Maybe he’s just frustrated because he can’t find the right match. Well, hey, isn’t that just what eHarmony does?

We think the NFL could solve a lot of it’s uh, “personal conduct” problems by giving out free subscriptions to eHarmony to all unmarried rookies.

NFL Tells Ben "I Like ‘Em Drunk" Roethlisberger to Sit in Corner for Six Weeks, Think About What He’s Done

How much does a night of drunken bar sex cost? In the case of one well-known NFL quarterback the estimates are close to $2.8 million. Up until yesterday the Steelers were standing by their man, but now seem to want him to walk the line . . . or some other country song title. (Below, Tony Romo’s ex country singer Carrie Underwood sings “Stand by Your Man” for Big Ben.)

The NFL cracked down on one of its stars Wednesday, suspending Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for not merely a few games but the first six of the season, even though he avoided sexual-assault charges in Georgia. Roethlisberger’s behavior reportedly has triggered what once would have been unthinkable: The Steelers are testing the market to trade him. According to an espn.com report, the club had called several teams, including the 49ers and Raiders, by Wednesday afternoon.

The 49ers at this point have not expressed any interest in the quarterback, according to a league source. The Raiders don’t comment on other teams’ players. The two-time Super Bowl winner was banned without pay for violating the NFL’s personal-conduct policy and was ordered to undergo a “comprehensive behavioral evaluation by professionals.”

NFL: Roethlisberger Violated NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, Now on Double Secret Probation

According to Dean Wormer–we mean Commissioner Goodell–the Steelers star QB is no longer allowed to have fun of any kind. We now fully expect something awesome to happen during Pittsburgh’s homecoming parade this year.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says Ben Roethlisberger has violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy but would not confirm reports on when he will announce discipline for the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, he said on the syndicated “Dan Patrick Show” on Monday.  Asked by Patrick whether there has been a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, Goodell replied, “Yes, there has been a violation of that.”

“The issue here is with respect to a pattern of behavior and bad judgments,” Goodell said on Patrick’s radio program. “You do not have to be convicted or even charged of a crime to be able to demonstrate that you’ve violated a personal conduct policy, and reflect poorly not only on themselves, but all of their teammates, every NFL player in the league and everyone associated with the NFL. And that is what my concern is, and I have expressed that directly to Ben, obviously, and I will be making a decision as soon as I possibly can.”
