HS Football Coach/Father – Son Duo Arrested in Drug Investigation

Dumbass Category LogoPlaying catch with your son is a common pass time for many fathers.  For a man that is not only a high school football coach but also the athletic director, this could even be mandatory but sometimes bonding requires more than just a pig skin.  So true for David Coates who spent quality time with his son, Joseph, peddling marijuana, LSD & ecstasy.

After a 10 month investigation into the pharmacy based upon family values, the dynamic duo were arrested along with 2 others.  As usual, everyone in the community is “in shock” about the allegations but sometimes life lessons have to be taught off the field …

The Clarion Ledger has the details:

Coates, 55, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell or distribute. He was one of four people arrested Thursday night as the result of a 10-month investigation of ecstasy, LSD and marijuana distribution.

Also charged are Coates’ son, 21-year-old Joseph Patrick Coates of Oxford; Mary Jane Miranda, 23, also of Oxford; and Marc Frank Davis, 54, of Greeley, Colo. The younger Coates and Miranda are students at the University of Mississippi.

The elder Coates, who was named the Metro Coach of the Year in 2003 by The Clarion-Ledger, has coached the Cougars for 19 seasons, compiling a record of 123 victories and 96 losses.

Not sure how to feel about this one…  The part of me that regularly acknowledges responsibility and control says “No.”; but my “party-on” side says ” Oh, Hell yeah…  Beeoooootttcchhhhhh!!!!!”.  All I know for sure is that if you find yourself in dire need of an “Eight Ball” in Scotland… Just get a hold of these blokes and ask for the (codename) “Triple Bogey”.  Here’s their website: http://www.royalmusselburgh.co.uk/

As a side note:  Although I had some fun with this story, I would like to make absolutely, positively sure that everyone out there understands that I; in no way, shape, or form, condone processing multiple kilos of coke in the midst of dancing toddlers.

And, call me preachy if you must, that should just be how it is for any decent human being on this Earth.

A HISTORIC golf club and a children’s dance school were among premises raided as part of a massive police operation which netted £500,000 worth of cocaine. Two men were arrested and charged with drug dealing offences following the swoops at the Royal Musselburgh Golf Club and LA Dance School, both in Prestonpans.

Kenneth Glen, the professional’s assistant at the golf club, and Gary Yorke – who is believed to be connected with the dance school – have already appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to face the charges.

More than 100 officers were deployed on a string of raids in Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian, and Lanarkshire, with 11.7 kilos of cocaine recovered from a number of locations.  But a golf club spokesman said that no drugs had been found during the raid, which was carried out last Friday.  The premises targeted were believed to have been used in the alleged cutting and bulking of controlled drugs.

Two Youth Football Coaches Arrested on Drug Charges, One of Them While Coaching

Dumbass Category LogoYouth coaches arrested for taking illegal drugs? Bad, but it happens.

Youth coaches arrested for selling illegal drugs? Terrible. Keep them away from our kids.

Youth coaches arrested for selling illegal drugs WHILE COACHING THE TEAM? Un-freakin’ believable!

And yet, we have a guy involved in the Wythe County Recreation League (Virginia) who’s accused of doing just that. To make matters worse, while cops were searching his house for additional drugs, another coach stopped by and was also arrested for drug possession. And, somehow, a third man–a non-coach–was somehow got tangled up in all of that drug mess.

Here’s more from WSLS:

Two Wythe County Recreation League coaches were arrested Tuesday afternoon on drug charges by the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office. A third man also was arrested as a result of the investigation.

According to Chief Deputy Keith Dunagan, Robert Dallis Mills, 36, of Ivanhoe Road was arrested on the property of Jackson Memorial Elementary School when he allegedly sold a controlled substance while coaching the Jackson Memorial Recreation League football team. He was charged with drug distribution and drug distribution on school property.

David Wade Coleman, 33, of Old School Road was arrested when he stopped at Mills’ residence while police officers were conducting a search. He was charged after officers found Xanax and marijuana in his vehicle, police said.
