So, what’s your excuse for being late to work this morning?
An NFL rookie is being called a hero after pulling a family to safety from a burning car Tuesday. Jonathan ‘Tig’ Willard, an undrafted free agent rookie with the Tennessee Titans, and another man pulled a mother, her three children and their dog from their car as it burned on the side of a Tennessee highway Tuesday while driving to Titans training camp. ‘They’re my angels, they’re a Godsend, it was a miracle that they were there,’ Cheri Hubbard told Good Morning America.
Willard, 23, was about two hours from training camp when he saw a car in front of him smoking, according to reports. ‘I saw this car in front of me, and it had all kinds of black smoke coming out of it,’ Willard told TigerNet, adding ‘I tried to speed up and get up next to the car to let them know the car was on fire.’
The former standout Clemson University linebacker pulled next to the smoking while car frantically blowing his horn and convinced the woman to pull over, he told WKRN. Once on the side of the road, he realized how dire the situation was, he added.
‘I saw three small kids in the back seat,” said Willard. “So I’m thinking, hurry up and get the kids and everybody out.’

Just in time to heat things up for the summer. At right, #8, Lindsay Clubine, wife of Red Sox ace Clay Buchholz.
Well, the 2013 MLB All-Star Game is over, and we’ve covered the event from a number of angles this year. We’ve talked about the Home Run Derby and the supposed derby curse. We’ve talked about the changes MLB could make to ensure the ASG remains the best such event in pro sports. And we’ve even talked about that kid who ran out onto the field during the game because Twitter dared him to. One important thing we haven’t covered yet, however? The All-Star WAGs. The confluence of these really attractive female companions of baseball’s biggest stars is one of the best things about the Midsummer Classic, and we would be remiss not to do a best-of list.

Kenneth Lind, Winner of the WSOP Senior Event – 2013
Well, the first question always is: is poker a sport?
If they cover it live on ESPN, then it’s a sport in my book. And there are also a lot of great characters in poker, like any great sport. You also have to have some great underdog stories like that of 68-year-old Kenneth Lind, a retired Army officer and great grandfather. Since he retired, Lind has had some extra time to play poker in his Layton, Utah home. Apparently A LOT of extra time. So his poker buddies egged him on telling him he should enter the World Series of Poker Seniors Event. (Likely secretly hoping he’d get his ass kicked and come home a humbler, but wiser, poker player.)
So Lind went to Las Vegas this week, paid his money to enter the WSOP poker tournament and made it through the first round. Then into the second round, then the final table–as the oldest participant -and finally ended up winning the whole thing, collecting a record $634,809 in prize money. To top things off (and probably rub it in to the guys at home) Lind had his name being added to the famous Golden Eagletrophy.
Probably not what his Army buddies had hoped for when the told Lind to get into the tournament this year. Now they’re really going to hear it from him.
If you haven’t already seen it, you should check out the video we posted this morning over at The Dumbass Daily of one Taylor Chapman of Florida who walked into a local Dunkin Donuts shop with cell phone in hand to record the conversation and proceeded to berate the staff because they forgot to give her a receipt the day before and, as per store policy, a free donut. The horrors!
Normally, just posting the video and mocking her in print would be enough. But after watching how those poor workers at DD held up to her wrath (no doubt because of good management and training) I wanted to salute all those hard working people out there and have proposed “A Donut in Honor of Taylor Day” on our Facebook page. Buy your favorite donut, leave a nice tip for the cashier and then post a picture of your proud purchase.
Just our way of saying “thank you” to everyone who ever had a bitch like this in their face and didn’t taser her ass like she deserved.
