Radar Online is reporting that Sarah Jones, the former married Kentucky high school teacher/Cincinnati Ben-Gals cheerleader is going to get her own reality show on the Oxygen Channel.
For those of you who haven’t seen it, Jones did an exclusive interview last Friday night with NBC Dateline in which she first lied to them about her affair with 18-year-old Cody York, then admitted in court that she was having sex with the boy and stunned onlookers by walking out of court hand-in-hand with the boy. When asked in a second interview why she lied earlier to the reporter, Jones replied (and I’m paraphrasing) “I’m in the middle of a court case. I couldn’t tell you the truth.” Then why agree to the interview unless, of course, the plan was to start that reality show and use Dateline to create the pilot for you? Ohhhh . . . .
You can watch all the Dateline interviews here, but below is the piece showing when cops surprised Jones and showed the thousands of naughty sexts between her and Cody. Both her and her mother’s responses are priceless: Sarah because she just lied to the cops about her relationship and can’t believe they somehow obtained the texts, and her mom because she immediately shuts the interrogation down and calls a lawyer because she thinks the evidence is fake.
Lest you think that Jones’ life will be too boring from now on: she does plan to divorce her husband, start dating young Cody, and she still has a multi-million dollar lawsuit pending against the publisher of the website TheDirty.com over a report back in 2009 that she got STDs after having sex with the entire Bengals team. She also claims that’s untrue as well, just like her affair with an underage male student.
Obviously, someone at Oxygen thinks there’s an audience who will watch this oncoming train wreck.
For those of you not following along, Sarah Jones was a married high school English teacher and cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals who stood accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage male student. She vehemently denied the charges for months, and even got her mother, a middle school principal, involved in the mess in an attempt to keep the boy quiet. That bag o’ lies exploded last month when Jones suddenly changed her tune and admitted to the relationship and taking a plea deal that helped her avoid jail time. Needless to say, Jones’ former supportive husband was shocked by the news.
Now, NBC’s Dateline has an exclusive interview with Jones and the now 18-year-old “victim” Cody York (named for the first time) in what should be an interesting piece of video. Follow the link below to see the preview video and be sure to check your local listings for time and channel.
UPDATE #2 – Oh no she didn’t! According to reports, after Sarah Jones pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old male student at the Kentucky high school where she worked a teacher, the pair walked out of the courtroom, hand-in-hand. (The young lovers are pictured at right: he’s the one with the pixelated face and sore shoulder from all the high fives he got from his friends after banging not only a teacher, but an NFL cheerleader.) This, after months of Jones denying the charges or that there was even a relationship and that “the truth eventually will come out.” (Side note: any time someone says that, the truth is already very well known and nothing new EVER comes out.) And–surprise!–not only did Jones not get any jail time (basically five years of probation) she also doesn’t even have to register as a sex offender. Can anyone imagine a male teacher or coach getting the same slap on the wrist and the reaction of the media if he walked out of court with a barely legal teen? (Read all of our posts related to this incident here.)
On top of that, Jones’ mother, Cheryl Jones, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted tampering with physical evidence, and also got off without serving and jail time. The former school principal (who lost her job as a result of this incident) admitted she sent the “victim” a text message telling him to get rid of his cell phone which contained incriminating messages between him and Sarah. So two careers ruined because she couldn’t say no to a young stud. Hope everyone’s happy now.
UPDATE#1 – Wasn’t it just a few months ago that former high school teacher/Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones was telling everyone who would listen that she “wasn’t the female Sandusky” in reference to charges that she had sex with an underage male student at Dixie Heights High School? Here’s a quote from her ABC News interview back in July:
“People don’t know the real me. There’s blogs and postings out there that I have slept with numerous people. I married my high school sweetheart,” said Jones. “I just asked the general public to maybe hold their judgment a little bit longer until the truth comes out.”
Jones’ lawyer, Eric Deters, filed a motion to dismiss all charges because of a lack of evidence. “They have no evidence that sexual relations of any type took place in any of the 50 United States of America,” Deters told ABC News station WCPO.
Jones stood by her innocence in the case until late last week when a judge decided that the text messages between she and the boy WOULD be allowed as evidence in the trial which was to start this week. Once that happened, Jones and her lawyer started singing a different tune and over the weekend reached a plea agreement to avoid what could have been an ugly trial. No word on how much jail time Jones will get, but likely it won’t be as much as a male teacher in a similar situation because she’s pretty.
