- A gymnastics coach at Mt. Spokane High School has resigned after it was
revealed that he approached an espresso stand three times in June of 2002.
Nothing wrong with that, you say? Try
picturing the middle-aged coach, John Stump, doing that in nothing but a
G-string. Unfortunately for Stump, his little underwear parade may have
gone un-reported except for the fact that the girl who worked at the stand was a
HS student who recognized him from his coaching activities. For his part, Stump
says he was "going through a hard time in his life."
#168! Coach/Substitute Teacher Caught Taking Pictures of
Naked Girl in Bushes Outside Hospital You know, we never thought we'd
be writing a headline like that, but then we never reported on J. Douglas Tullis
who used to sub at the Visalia Unified School District in California and also
served as the girls basketball coach at Mt. Whitney High School. Tullis, who
faces several serious child sex charges, was caught when--I'm not making this
up!--someone called 911 after seeing a young girl and a man in the bushes near
Veteran's Hospital. When police arrived, they found a 17-year-old girl half
naked and Tullis was taking pictures. (Apparently the light is really good
there and what can you say about the foliage outside a hospital for setting the
right mood?) When they searched his house, it got worse: they found close to 100
compromising video tapes and several hundred CDs. Detectives are now reviewing
through those tapes to find out how many people might be involved and just what
ages they might be. According to one report, so much material was found at
Tullis' house that it took nine investigators about five days to review it all.

- Stephen Reich, 25, an English teacher/ boys' basketball coach at
Charlestown High School in southern Indiana, was accused of having sexual
relations with at least two HS girls more than 80 times in various locked school
rooms during the past school year. Because of the seriousness of the charges
(a "career killer" according to his lawyer, duh!) his attorney wants
cops to go back to the school and look for possible, uh "DNA evidence"
that might still be hanging around! "Given where scientific testing and DNA
is these days, they can still go back to the classroom where this supposedly
happened ... and at least do some investigating there," counsel Daniel
Moore said. "If it happened in a classroom, if it happened somewhere on
school premises ... (they should) perform some kind of testing to determine
whether there was this kind of activity there." Our only comment at
this point: ewww!
#124 - Wisconsin girls soccer coach caught taking 15-year-old player to
Mexico for "surprise vacation" . . . on a bus? 28-year-old Alberto
J. Mendoza has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a girl he
coached, beginning when she was 15. The girl's family thought something was
wrong when her father went to pick her up at Waukesha North High School after an
away soccer match. He couldn't find her and hours later learned from one of the
girl's friends that she was actually in Chicago on a bus with Mendoza bound for
Mexico. Dallas police stopped the bus and girl told them that she and Mendoza had
sex in his car after soccer practice on more than 10 occasions, and that
they also had sex repeatedly in his home after school . . . before his wife
returned home with the couple's two children.

Coach Sex Scandal of the Year? We first reported
on this story in 2003, but details of the extent of the damage caused by girl's
basketball coach Rick Lopez, 37 are just now coming out at he heads to trial on 55
felony counts of alleged sexual assault on a child by a person in a position
of trust. According to three of his female players Lopez, who coached the elite
Colorado Hoopsters, had a standard operating procedure: he would move into the
basement of the family's home and have sex with their daughters on a regular
basis. . . for years. On a tape of a secretly recorded conversation between the
coach and one of his victims that was played in court, Lopez admitted that his
first alleged victim was 13 when he initiated sexual contact with her. She
allegedly had sex with Lopez three or four times a week for the four years while
he lived in her parents' basement. But wait, there's more! After the first
victim's family moved to a smaller house (hopefully without a basement), Lopez
moved into the basement of ANOTHER alleged victim where he a sexual relationship
with the then 14-year-old daughter of that family for the five years he lived
with them. To top things off, Lopez initiated a sexual relationship with yet
a third alleged victim after the girl with whom he had the five-year
relationship had to have surgery to repair a torn ligament in her knee.

"I Did Not Have Sexual Relations With Any HS Girls . . . Okay, It Was a Few
Girls And They Were Really More Like "Inappropriate Encounters" - Wow!
This guy is smooth, I can see why the chicks dig him. When police questioned
27-year-old Kenny Hinton, football coach at Madison-Plains High School in Ohio
he admitted that "there were some students who I had some relationships
with, . . . not really relationships, some inappropriate encounters with."
More specifically, Hinton's admitted "encounters" with four female
students included French-type
kissing and touching their buttocks, and talking sex but not any REAL sexual
conduct. He also claims they pursued him, and "wanted sex after school
and during last period." If you visit the Madison-Plains
sports website, you'll see they have an opening for a new football coach. It
doesn't give the salary, but I understand there are some nice perks to the job. If
one of these girls comes forward with a stained blue dress, I'm outta here. (Thanks

tennis coach accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old
student, having sex with her as
often as five times a week in various classrooms, janitorial closets,
stairwells and the school library . . . because, of course, he had a master key
to Dakota Ridge High School. According to the victim, she eventually became
coach Kevin Ponis' student assistant and arranged her schedule so she had no
classes for two hours every day--between noon and 2 p.m.--to allow for lengthy
sexual encounters. She also claims that Ponis rented a hotel room in Idaho
Springs several times for their trysts and also made several videotapes of
their encounters using the school's video camera.
#102! Michael J. Powers, an art
teacher/coach at Yuma High School in Arizona, was arrested for having sex with
several students going back all the way to 1997, after one of the victims came
forward. Powers allegedly had sexual intercourse with the girls in his classroom
and at his home. But wait, there's more to the story! The
first victim later became his wife and according to court documents, he's had
been living with the second girl, who is now 19 years old, for the past four or
five months.

about this guy, at least he did things a little differently than most of the
others we post on this page: a wrestling coach is accused of exposing his
genitalia to two 14-year-old middle school students after a wrestling match Feb.
5. Cops say he asked the two girls to help him check the school's locker rooms
to make sure no wrestling equipment was left behind. The
girls told police the coach then followed them into the locker room and he

arrested on allegations of using the Internet to solicit sex from a chat partner
whom he thought was a 13-year-old girl. Wrong! It was actually a cop. And this
guy was smooth: as part of his ongoing "chat" with this fictions girl,
the 28-year-old claimed he was a 21-year-old man named "Steve," and used
a picture of an Abercrombie and Fitch male model in a swimsuit on his Internet
profile.

He Had Her Initials Tattooed on His Butt!
You know, just when we think we've seen
and heard it all, we have a week like this one with the HS Coach Sex Scandals.
Nine new ones just this week; we shatter last year's record of 167 . . . in
August, and they catch one guy in the bushes outside a VA hospital taking
pictures of a topless teen. How can we top that? With an assistant
principal/assistant football coach at Red Bank High School in Chattanooga, who
not only had sex with a 17-year-old female student on several occasions and also
got her liquored up during a romp at an Atlanta hotel, Coach Frank Anderson
"Andy" Chastain also had her initials tattooed on his buttocks.
(How do cops know that? The girl allegedly drew a picture of the tattoo on a
napkin and police later got a search warrant to obtain to photograph Chastain's
buttocks "and during the execution of the warrant a tattoo matching (the
girl's)'s drawing was located on Chastain's buttocks.") That was only one
of several pieces of evidence police obtained against Coach Chastain: they
also got his DNA from a pair of the girl's panties her mother gave them and she
had proof of the Atlanta incident because she had received--wait for it--a
parking ticket from the hotel parking lot! You'd think he would have picked
up the tab for that, wouldn't you?

recreational softball player didn't suspect she and her coach were having sex
because the father knew him trusted the man because, "He's
her coach, he's an engineer, a golfer." They even caught the guy once
with her and let him off the hook because it was just "hugging and
kissing" but later found evidence the two were still an item and finally
nailed the coach/engineer/golfer when they wired the girl and got him on tape
telling her to deny it.

Scandal Standards! Volunteer HS bowling coach is under
arrest for soliciting teenagers to engage in sexual acts . . . and he likes to
hit from both sides of the plate, if you know what I mean. Members of the
bowling team, including nine boys and three girls claim Michael Wurme would not
stop bothering them with emails and instant messages. He went so far as to
allegedly ask them to pose
naked for videos and photos he said he wanted to sell on the Internet. Bowling
coach salary doesn't go as far as it used to?
#184! Jury convicts former basketball coach Dustin
McCormack of Dewey High School in Oklahoma of forcible oral sodomy against a
former student. McCormack's victim claims he asked for oral sex in exchange for
an "A" in a class he taught. According to the victim she went to the
coach's office "around the end of the day" and that he had exposed
himself and said, "What
are you, chicken?" (That challenge never ends well, especially in
Arkansas.) The former student said she "interpreted that as meaning he
wanted me to give him (oral sex)" and added that the act ended when the
bell rang and she stopped. When asked what happened next, the girl testified
that McCornmack ". . . handed me a piece of gum and I left his
office."
