So were the girls from the cheerleading squad. Around 3 a.m. on March 2 police were called to the motel after a report that a rape had occurred, involving a 17-year-old basketball player and a 16-year-old cheerleader. And, according to police, at least one other basketball player and another cheerleader were reportedly in the room at the time of the reported rape, possibly more. No one is saying there was any criminal activity and the kids are all above the age of consent in Georgia (16, for those playing along at home), but the scandal could result in several players from the team missing this weekend's game. And a win there would have put the school in the state finals. Ouch. Hart County officials are still trying to decide what to do. (Independent Mail) Four

According to reports, as many as 50 students, including members of the baseball team and other students gathered at the home of one of the players for a birthday party. In what is being described as a "typical house party" players reportedly downed shots until someone vomited on the floor and, at some point, someone raped the 17-year-old high school student. If it's proven that the sex was consensual, there still could be charges brought depending on the age of the male: in California it's illegal for an adult to have sexual intercourse with anyone under age 18. However, in the case of a 17-year-old, if the adult is less than three years older than the minor and the intercourse is consensual, the act is still a misdemeanor.
