BadJocks Stories From the Week of October 1, 2006 "Best $27 I Ever Spent" - Woman claims that the Idiot Proof Diet helped her lose over 50 lbs, got rid of her heart burn, and cleared up problems with her gallbladder. Read her amazing story here Cheap Shot During Football Game Gets Coach Fired: Did We
Mention He Coached Middle School Boys? - Old and Busted: HS football. The
New Hotness? Middle School football. There was a time when cheap shots were
limited to the pros and college football games. Then things migrated down to
high school, so we shouldn't be surprised that most of the on and off-field
violence has emerged in pre-teen games. Earlier this week we had a parent
tasered at a game for getting a little wild. Now comes word that a coach has
been fired for calling a play that resulted in a cheap shot on an opposing
player and a concussion. The play-in-question happened Sunday during an Indiana
Elementary Football Association game between the Perry Meridian Jr. Falcons and
the Center Grove Jr. Trojans. Both are traveling teams made up of middle school
students in fifth and sixth grades. According to fans, at one point a Perry
Meridian Jr. player came running toward the line of scrimmage from several yards
back and nailed Center Grove’s unsuspecting center at full speed--before the
ball was snapped! The player, who just happened to be the son of the opposing
coach, was not knocked unconscious, but did suffer a concussion. Outraged fans
sent a video of the incident to the IEFA and shortly thereafter the coach for
the Falcons, Jay Keevers, was dismissed. (Indy

Strange Bad Jock Story of the Week: Season Cancelled After HS Football Players Charged With Vandalism for Changing Michigan Fan's Yard to Spartan Green - Living in Michigan, you can't help but get involved in the annual Michigan, Michigan State rivalry being played this weekend in Ann Arbor. Like most great college football rivalries, there's a lot of good-natured ribbing back and forth, especially the week before the big game. But nothing prepared Michigan fan Ronald Jenkins who lives north of Jackson, Michigan and had his formerly maize and blue yard spray-painted green and white. According to local police, the vandals are none other than seven members of the Northwest HS football team and they have been charged with misdemeanor malicious destruction of property. Cops say the boys bought six cans of paint at 2 a.m. at a local store then proceeded to Jenkins home and painted over anything decorated in his favorite team's colors: signs, birdhouses, flower pots, and even his driveway! After the charges were filed, the school decided to cancel the rest of the JV football season as all but one of the vandals was on the team which only had 18 players to begin with. You'd think Jenkins would be happy with that, wouldn't you? But no, after he claims he spent over $3000 repainting everything (with three coats of paint, just to be sure) Mr. Jenkins thinks that, not only should he be reimbursed for his trouble, but that the kids should be charged with felonies and is now considering taking legal action adding, "I think I'll get an attorney." The other HS kids aren't letting this one go and have been spotted driving past Jenkins home in the early evening and if they see Jenkins in his yard they honk the horn and flip him the bird. (Jackson Citizen-Patriot) BadJocks Update: Video Clip of Football Fan Being Tasered
by Cops at Kid's Game! Here's an update on one of yesterday's top stories:
thanks to reader Mark West we now can watch the video of the allegedly drunk fan
who wouldn't stop cursing at a football game for 7 & 8-year-olds and was
eventually tasered by a cop who happened by. (MyFox
St. Louis) HS Football Players Kicked Off Team for Locker Room Prank That “Crosses the Line of Being Appropriate” - Officials at Franklin High School in Asheville won't say exactly what five JV football players did in the locker room to several younger players, other than that it started out as a prank, but quickly moved to "inappropriate" when the kids were being held down All five have been kicked out of the football program as a result. (Citizen Times) BadJock of the Year Nominee? Ethnic Minority Games Tainted by Cross-Dressing Cheats - What would ethnic games be without a little cheating, right? But this incident from China appears to be a new low for ethnic games everywhere. According to a report, athletes representing each of China's 55 ethnic minorities came to the southwestern province of Yunnan last week to compete in a variety of traditional sports, including horse-riding events and--we're not making this up!--blow-pipe darts. (Cover your necks!) One of the featured events though is the women's dragon-boat racing event. The final results had to be reviewed after athletes from one group complained that the winners were "big women with Adam's apples." Upon closer examination (no DNA testing at the Ethnic Minority Games, no sir!) referees found that several of the competitors were, in fact, men wearing wigs. Once the cheats were revealed, a gang of men from another ethnic tribe grabbed blades and sticks and chased the she-males from the event. (Scotsman) #145! Repeat Offender? Coach who was tried in 1992 and in 1993 on two separate charges of misdemeanor sexual abuse for molesting two under-age female students--and acquitted--arrested again on same charges . . . six times! (Mid-Iowa News) Thanks to DB for the link! California Enacts Tough, New Hazing Legislation - Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger last week redefined hazing laws in his state, allowing victims of hazing to bring civil action suits against the organizations and individuals who participated in the hazing incident. The legislation known as Matt's Law is named after California State University, Chico student Matt Carrington, who died from drinking too much water during a hazing incident in early 2005. (The Daily Californian) Fans Throw Drink, Cooler at Assistant Principal After Football Game - This one is a little complicated, so stay with me. At Colbert County High School (Alabama) the parents of football players get into the games free, based on the discretion of the assistant principal, Keith Hairrell. At last Friday's game between Colbert and Clements, an employee of the school district and his nephew tried to get in for free and were at first turned away, then later allowed in. After the game as Hairrell was walking out the gate, the man threw a cup of water or soda on him and then the nephew followed with an entire cooler. Not surprisingly, the school wasn't happy with the way that was handled and have fired the employee and banned him and his nephew from district buildings for life. Daily News) HS Cheerleader Kicked Off Squad for Saying Mean Things About Teammates on Her Blog - Oh my God! Get outta here! No Way! Jessi Northcutt, a cheerleader at Durant High School (Oklahoma) was booted off the squad this week for saying mean things about other girls on the squad on her MySpace page. Actually, she didn't really even name them, just said that some of the other cheerleaders were being mean. Here's an example: “...When people talk about other people, someone always over-hears them... I'm not the only one who (feels) this way. Example: I know somebody on the cheer team that wrote a lot of (expletive) up (expletive) In (Girl's name)'s death book... like ha ha, you had it coming to you.. anyway she (told) me that I need to quit being a (expletive).” Actually, she didn't even name anyone in the blog, but other people copied her text and added the names, then printed it out and confronted with it in the halls as school. At that point, of course, school officials had to step in and boot Jessi off the team . . . in the name of school unity. (Durant Democrat) Thanks to J.B. for another great link. Here in the BadJocks Back Yard: HS With Sucky Football Team Cancels Two Games--Including Homecoming--Because Players Were at Booze Party - Is it a disciplinary situation or a mercy killing? Officials at Concord High School (just down the road from us in Central Michigan) determined that enough players were at the party--even if they didn't drink-that it was best just to cancel the games. Interesting, Concord--which played in a state title game only five years ago--is in the middle of a 19 game losing streak right now and scored just six points in nine games last season and has been outscored 184-30 in five losses this season. (MLive) Girls HS Soccer Coach Accused of Taking Money From Team, Buying Booze for Girls - It's not clear if you read the story if Joshua K. George, 31, a soccer coach for teenaged girls at a club in Cumberland Valley (PA) actually used the same money he stole from the team to buy booze for underage girls, but it would make the story a lot more interesting if he did, wouldn't it? According to police, George--a former soccer and wrestling star at CV--was hired after he met some parents last year. Almost immediately, team officials suspected money was missing, but the straw that broke the camel's back occurred back on last Oct. 28 in the parking lot of the Rich Valley Golf Course where George admitted that he gave three 15-year-old female players apple-flavored schnapps. He now faces one count of theft and three counts of selling or furnishing liquor or malt or brewed beverages to minors. (PennLive) |
