Cricket
Fan Arrested for Racist Markings on Stadium Seats - A 30-year-old
British cricket fan was arrested for scribbling racial and anti-Jewish
profanities at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town where England and South
Africa are playing. According to a police spokesman, "The man was
seen drawing the racial and anti-Zionist slogans on the seats at the
stadium."
16-Year-Old HS Quarterback Arrested for DUI
- Baer T. Philipbar, 16, starting quarterback for the Rio Rancho High School
football team in New Mexico was arrested at 1:13 a.m. on New Year's Day and was
charged with aggravated driving under the influence of intoxicating alcohol or
drugs, fleeing and eluding a police officer and failure to maintain his traffic
lanes. Philipbar blew an impressive .16% on his blood alcohol test (twice the
legal limit) but it still was not enough to get him into the Top Twenty of the
Infamous BadJocks BAC Rankings.
Hey, did you
read about this Bulgarian man who survived a BAC over .900? He's not a
jock, but maybe we could include him if he's a soccer fan. (Thanks to Robert
Zeis for the link!)
HS Hazing Update: School
Board Likely to Keep Football Coach Who Allowed Two Seniors to Play After Hazing
Freshman - Sending a strong message that hazing will not be tolerated, the
Catasauqua Area School Board is expected to retain varsity football coach Chris
Gerhard, even though he allowed two seniors accused of roughing up a freshman to
play in an important Thanksgiving Day game against Northampton. (Thanks to Band
of One for the link!)
Illinois
HS Athletic Association Suspends Star B-Ball Player Two Games for Going Into
Stands After Profanity Shouting Fan - The State of Illinois has decided
that Nate Minnoy, who plays for Hales Franciscan High School will sit out two
games after an incident at the Rich South ''Big Dipper'' basketball tournament.
According to reports, Minnoy went into the stands to approach a heckler who
allegedly used profanity during Hales' semifinal victory over Bloom. Because of
the incident, play stopped as Minnoy and the heckler were both taken away by
police.
College
Fires Wrestling Coach After Drug Arrest - Davidson College has
apparently fired wrestling coach T.J. Jaworsky after he was arrested over the
weekend on charges of cocaine possession and driving while impaired. Although he
was a three-time NCAA champion, in three-and-a-half years Jaworsky was only able
to lead the team to a record of five-and-42.
#1! Our first HS Coach Sex Scandal of the Year . . .
and it's a female coach with a male athlete. Jennifer L. Bradley, 22, an
assistant girls volleyball coach at Case High School in Wisconsin, is accused of
sexual relations with a student. The male was 16 at the time and was coached by
Bradley at a private club where he played called Next Level Volleyball.
According to the complaint, the boy's mother told police that Bradley let her
son use her cell phone, drive her car though he doesn't have a license . . . and
the best part: let
him use her credit card so that he could play poker and make bets on a Web site.

Chyna Celebrates
New Year With Good Old Fashioned Boyfriend Beatdown, Followed by Traditional
Holiday Arrest for Domestic Violence - According to a posting on Sean
Waltman's website, girlfriend Joanie "Chyna" Laurer was arrested New
Year's Day for domestic battery. What upset the former lady wrestler? Nothing.
Okay, maybe it had something to do with Sean coming back late from the Playboy
Mansion. Here's the quote from his page: Joanie was arrested on January 1st
for domestic battery. She assaulted me struck me in the head and face countless
times after getting back from the Playboy Mansion. There were several witnesses
to her behavior, including Jeff Meecham from The Extreme Mayhem Show, and
unfortunately my two children witnessed and heard all of this. She was released
today once again having to suffer no consequences for her behavior. She showed
no remorse. You can practically hear this guy whining, can't you? Hey, Sean,
either date a smaller woman or stay away from the Playboy Mansion. (Thanks to
Artie Bigley for the tip!)

Verba Rape Allegations Update: Second Woman Now Claims to Have Been Drugged,
Raped at Player's Home - Things are not looking good for Cleveland
Brown's lineman Ross Verba: a local TV station has learned that a second woman
had previously claimed that she was drugged and raped at his home back on
December 17. As BadJocks reported in a story on Tuesday (below), a young woman
claims she woke up at Verba's house last week without her pants on and can't
remember how that happened. (Thanks to our good buddy Kurt
Crowley at KACSports.com for the link. He also has some interesting details
about Verba's recent business
dealings which seem to be going as well as his love life at this point.)
Paper: Cavaliers
New Owner Part of Gambling Ring in College - The Lansing State Journal
is reporting that the new owner of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, Daniel Gilbert
(founder of Quicken Loans, one of the biggest mortgage lenders in the US), was
sentenced in 1982 for running a gambling ring as a entrepreneurial young student
at Michigan State University. According to the report, while technically Gilbert
was not convicted, he was ordered to serve three years probation and pay a fine
of $2500. Now, before you dismiss this a teenager being caught putting lunch
money into an office pool, the State Journal goes on to say that Gilbert and
his three pals had a bookmaking operation that handled $114,000 in bets on
football and basketball during just MSU's fall term in 1981. A spokesman for
Quicken Loans stressed that Gilbert "has never been convicted of any crime
in his entire life." Interestingly, several of Gilberts friends who were
sentenced as part of the gambling ring also got into the mortgage loan business
and have operations located near his in the Detroit area.
Woman
Passes Out, Then Wakes Up Without Pants at Home of Cleveland Browns Football
Player, Thinks She May Have Been Sexually Assaulted - Police in Strongsville,
Ohio want to know why a female party guest passed out at the home of Cleveland
Brown's tackle Ross Verba last week, then woke up in the morning without her
pants. The young victim's mother claims her daughter was sexually assaulted, but
no charges have been filed. Police wouldn't say whether Verba was there for the
house party, but did say that at least one other person was living in the house
at the time. (Thanks to Mr. Hooper for the link!)

Cons NFL Players Out of Hundreds of Dollars in Phone Scam
- If a stranger called you out of the blue and claimed to be a former
teammate down on his luck, would you wire him hundreds of dollars . . . to a
grocery store? Well, at least two current or former NFL stars did, before Warren
Sapp got suspicious and called police. Lewis Sills, 19, of Elkridge, Maryland
faces multiple charges of identity theft after stealing from Philadelphia Eagles
quarterback Donovan McNabb and former Washington Redskins cornerback Darrell
Green. Somehow, Sills got the home phone numbers of the players and called them
claiming to be either a former teammate or a player on another team and asked
the jocks to wire money ($900 in Green's case and $600 in McNabb's) to a grocery
store. In Green's case, he claimed to be Baltimore Ravens linebacker Peter
Boulware and that he had a "cousin" named Lewis Sills who would sign
for the money so it should be sent in his name. The scam worked both times but
when he tired to tap the Raider's Sapp for $1800 (gettin' greedy), the All-Pro
lineman called cops who were waiting when Sills went to pick up the cash. Police
believe other current and former NFL stars may also have been targeted by the
scam but aren't sure how many fell for it.
HS Coach Shocker: Assistant
Football Coach Accused of Stabbing Three People - Shawn P. Kelley, an
assistant high school football coach at New London High School in Ohio was
arrested over the weekend in connection with a triple stabbing that left one
woman dead.
Special
Super Bowl Announcement: The Lingerie Bowl is Back!
- The Lingerie Bowl, which last year featured two teams of models playing a
football game in their underwear, is back again this year, but with a slight
twist: the ladies will now only participate in "football-related
challenges" instead of an actual game. As a bonus, girls from four
different teams will also model lingerie during the show, without the need for
any of that distracting protective gear they wore during last year's debacle.

Outta Here! Ohio Tells HS Athletes: If You Go Into Stands to Fight With Fans
You're Gone for a Year - It happened a few weeks after the infamous
Pistons-Pacers NBA brawl, but after high school basketball players fought with
fans at two different games early in December, the Ohio High School Athletic
Association wasted no time establishing strict new penalties. Players who decide
to brawl with fans will now be suspended for one year. The athlete's school is
also put on probation pending the outcome of a state investigation, meaning it
could lose playoff profits or face stiffer punishment such as a playoff ban
should another violation occur. Before the new rules were instituted a player
could get as little as a one game suspension for going into the stands.
US
Sprinter Banned for Steroids - The US Anti-Doping Agency announced that
US sprinter Mickey Grimes had been banned for two years after testing positive
for the steroid Norandrosterone.
Detroit Lion
Stopped for Speeding/Drunk Driving - Lions cornerback Chris Cash was
detained Friday morning after being pulled over by Detroit police for suspected
speeding and then failing a roadside Breathalyzer test administered. No word on
his BAC at this point, but he'd need a .23% or better to make BadJocks famous BAC
Rankings. (Thanks to Fark.com for the

Former
La Salle Men's Basketball Player Accused of Raping Player on Women's Team While
She Was Asleep - Dzaflo Larkai, who used to play for La Salle
University's men's basketball will stand trial on a rape charge after a former
member of the women's team testified he had sex with her last year while she was
asleep. The female player also claims she told both the men's and women's
coaches about the assault and that they counseled her not to press charges. The
coaches deny that account.
Tampa
Bay Buccaneer Cheerleaders Pose for Calendar, Don't Get Paid - The
already cheer for a crappy team, and now they have to pose scantily clad for a
calendar? And it was a just a few years ago that a Buc's cheerleader was booted
from the squad for posing in a men's magazine. How times have changed. How bad
are the pictures? One description of the cover photo reads, "Now meet
Kayla, a wind-blown blond, bracing against a red door, her mesh top struggling
to contain her bounty." The "12 Steamy Months" sells for $15 and
the girls (who don't get paid to cheer at the games) get exactly . . . $0 of
that. The NFL has come a long way! Now they can make money exploiting their
cheerleaders instead of letting some magazine publisher do it.
#235! Last One for 2004? Kenneth Wayne Crowder, 52, a
coach at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk was arrested this week and charged
with attempting to solicit sex from a minor over the Internet. Yes, it's yet
another instance where a coach thought he was talking
to a teenager online who turned out to be a cop. Oops.
#234! An arrest warrant was issued for Wausau West High School varsity
girls basketball coach Mitch King. Wausau police told school officials that they
had received a complaint from parents that King had engaged in inappropriate
conduct with their child. According to the 15-year-old victim, the coach
pursued her sexually for several months, starting last January. King allegedly
told her at one point that they should be together and he "loved her more
than his wife." The girl told cops her coach first began touching her
during a March trip to Madison for the girls state high school basketball
tournament. That lead to sex in his truck in April after he gave her a ride home
from golf practice, according to the complaint. (Thanks to Joe Dotterweich for
the link!)
NFL Death
Threat? ESPN is reporting that NFL security is looking into an alleged
death threat made by injured Rams offensive tackle Kyle Turley to St. Louis
coach Mike Martz.
