Our old friend the “finger in the behind” hazing technique has raised its ugly head again and this time at least five members of the football team and boy’s basketball team at Plano High School (TX) have been arrested on sexual assault charges for incidents from August 2012 and February 2013.
Interestingly though, despite the fact that these incidents took place more than 6 months apart and on different sports teams, the school’s principal, Eric Benson, thought the incidents were “not part of an ongoing problem.”
Really? Keep telling yourself that Principal Benson.
The Plano High School students have been charged in what could be a case of sports team hazing at the school. The five, all boys, were younger than 17 at the time of the alleged incidents and all were charged with criminal sexual assault, aggravated battery and unlawful restraint, Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis said. They were arrested Tuesday night and held overnight in the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center west of St. Charles. They appeared Wednesday morning before a juvenile court judge in Kendall County to decide whether they would stay in the youth home or be released to their parents. Weis said the students were charged in connection with multiple incidents that took place in August 2012 and February of this year, involving three victims. Both the alleged offenders and victims were members of the same sports teams, police said.
