Drunk German Golfer Arrested for Playing Through on City Streets

Arrested for just playing golf? Probably not going to happen.

Arrested for playing golf drunk? We suppose it could happen, but the numbers are small compared to the actual number of drunk golfers each weekend.

But if you’re a drunk golfer AND teeing off in the middle of a busy street in Cologne, Germany then, maybe you might get arrested.  That happened to a man this week after a taxi driver let a passenger out and heard a loud thud on his car. He spotted some damage, a golf ball nearby and then the drunken linkster not far away. Of course, the cabbie chased down the guy, but when confronted, this golfer pulled out his knife instead of his 9 iron and that’s when police where called.

HS Track Coach/Daughter-in-Law of Nike Founder, 41, Dismissed After Taking Teen to Prom – Melisssa Bowerman

track coach Melissa BowermanOver more than 12 years we thing we’ve seen just about everything. Then comes the story of Melissa Bowerman, a volunteer track coach at Condon-Wheeler High School in Oregon. If the Bowerman name sounds familiar to you, it’s because her father-in-law was Bill Bowerman, one of the co-founders of Nike. Her husband is Jon Bowerman, 73, who is apparently retired and has enough money and free time to volunteer to coach the track team with his wife at CWHS. That is, until this week, when Mrs. Bowerman was dismissed from the team, just as they were about to board the bus for a meet.

The reason? Mrs. Bowerman, 41 took a 17-year-old boy to the prom.  Why? According to her, the kid didn’t have a date and was doing poorly in English so she thought going with him would help motivate the lad to do better, improve his grades and continue to run on the track team. Makes perfect sense when you explain it that way. And, according to the boy’s own father, Bob Thomas, who approved of this uh, special arrangement, there was nothing inappropriate about the “date” especially since Bowerman had been like a “surrogate mother” to many of the athletes on the squad.

And nothing says “I’m a Track Star” like taking your “mom” to the prom, right?

According to Mrs. Bowerman, the whole thing was just innocent and that the couple only danced a few slow songs (ew) and then played ping pong and foosball at the event, which as obviously held in the basement of some fraternity.

After Melissa’s dismissal, her septuagenarian hubby threatened to quit as coach and take the new track and facilities with him. (Okay, we made that last part up, but the couple did just donate a bunch of money for new athletic facilities at the school.) No laws were broken, so Mrs. Bowerman will not be charged, but we can be sure she will be fondly remembered by the kids who went to prom 2012 at Condon-Wheeler High. If you’re playing along at home, you will note that Mrs. Bowerman is 32 years younger than her husband but only 24 years older than her prom date.

Topless Female Protestor Tries to Steal Euro 2012 Soccer Trophy

Okay, so let’s get this straight: your Ukrainian feminist group wants to make point about how women are sexually exploited so you get attention for your cause by performing stunts in public topless?  God bless the freedom-loving people of Eastern Europe!  You never see American women take such a strong stand for things they believe in, do you?

Which brings us to our story, which isn’t really much of a story. An “activist” for a  Ukrainian women’s rights group grabbed the Euro 2012 Trophy (the event is being held this summer) while also taking her shirt off.  (You can find an uncensored, NSFW version of the picture from the event here. Please note: the Sun tabloid blurred out the F-bomb, but not her breasts.)

Inna Shevchenko, 21, an activist in the Femen group, peeled off her top, revealing the words ‘F*ck Euro 2012′ on her torso.  She then grabbed hold of the 60cm-high cup while it was being exhibited in a central square in Dnipropetrovsk, according to a video clip released by Femen.

As security guards moved in on her, another activist, standing next to the cup, stripped off to the waist to display the same slogan. IFemen activists staged a similar protest in Kiev earlier this month, seizing hold of the same cup while it was on public display in the capital.

Organisers said the latest stunt was carried out by a 46-year-old French journalist from a French women’s magazine.  ‘She also supports our struggle against sexism and prostitution and decided to take part,’ said Femen spokeswoman Anna Hutsol.  Both women were detained by police.
