We’ve read about and seen many nasty hazing rituals in the past, but this one really ranks up there on the Stupid Meter.

A lawsuit against Picayune Memorial High School (MS) claims that before a home game against Lumberton High last April, a freshman player was singled out for initiation into the nationally ranked baseball team. According to the suit, filed by the victim’s parents, Jeffrey Dixon Sr. and Amy Dixon, their son had his arms held behind his back while a third member of the team punched him in the chest. Instead of laughing it off, the victim went into convulsions and fell to the ground, while the scared members of the team scattered. The Dixon’s son was treated for the seizure, facial lacerations and a chest injury.

And what did the coach do when this transpired? According to the Dixon’s lawsuit, instead of attended to the injured player, the coach tried to console his star pitcher, who just happened to be the player who threw the hazing punch.

The Dixon’s lawsuit claims gross negligence, assault and battery, infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment, conspiracy, civil rights violations and negligent supervision
