Painful Sports Video: Dolphins Crowder Says Ravens McClain Spit on Him

As a sign of disrespect, very few things rival being spit on, especially someone spitting in your face. You see it in movies and TV shows all the time, rarely in the real world. Except maybe in the National Football League where the game between the Ravens and Dolphins got ugly Sunday when things got heated between Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder and Baltimore running back Le’Ron McClain. Story below, followed by video of both men talking about the incident (McClain denies it, of course) and then video of the Dolphin spitting incident. Watch both, then decide for yourself.

After the Ravens successfully executed a third-quarter fake punt to get a first down at the Dolphins’ 26, the Dolphins defense and Ravens offense retook the field. Suddenly, Crowder called a timeout while running toward the line of scrimmage and across it. McClain seemed to say something to Crowder, who turned around to face McClain. Then, Crowder was trying to get at McClain while being held back by Kendall Langford and several Baltimore players.

When asked what sparked such a reaction, Crowder said, “Y’all can write it down — the [expletive] punk Le’Ron McClain spit in my face. Keep writing — he spit in my face, and that’s why I got mad. The refs told me they didn’t see nothing, they didn’t see the spit hit my face.”

Both Crowder and fellow linebacker Karlos Dansby hoped the NFL would take a look at the incident.

McClain’s version of events differed.

“I guess he got a little frustrated,” McClain said. “We got into a little head-butting conversation, but no spit, man. Probably me talking, but all the spitting, that ain’t my game. I play ball between the whistles. I got that crazy penalty against New England [a personal foul in overtime] and learned from that. Why would I spit in his face? That’s crazy. We were right in each other’s face. I don’t know what he was saying. He thought I spit on him. I sure wasn’t trying if I did. I don’t see no spit coming out of my mouth.”
