This story broke earlier this year and we are not surprised she took the plea deal. According to reports, not only did the cops find semi-nude pictures of her on the 17-year-old’s cell phone, but the two of them had–at one time–a join checking account and at least report is saying she bought the boy a car.
Yeah, someone is likely to notice the car, which is rumored to have been dubbed “The Hot for Teacher Express.”
Shannon Young, a former Kansas teacher and volleyball coach, has pleaded guilty to having illegal sex with a high school student for nearly a year. The 36-year-old pleaded Friday to three counts of illegal voluntary sexual relationships with the 17-year-old boy. The Kansas City Star reports that she will be sentenced to probation.
According to CBS Affiliate KCTV, court records said Young had sex three times with a student while she was a teacher at Pleasant Ridge High School. The investigation discovered that Young began the relationship while she was consulting with the student about his pending child with his girlfriend at the time.
The investigation also revealed semi-nude photos of Young on the victim’s cell phone. Young carried on a relationship with the youth from Aug. 1, 2009 to June 2, 2010, and had a joint checking account with him.

It’s usually the ADs who are passing out he punishments, not receiving them. This time, we have the exception a Gloucester County, NJ high school athletic director who has been suspended after police say she she shot up her husband’s pickup truck.
We’re assuming this was related to some domestic dispute and not a personal dislike for Chevy Silverados. Either way, this impromptu shooting practice could cost AD Donna Covely her job.
KYW’s Ian Bush reports that Donna Covely’s spouse wasn’t inside the vehicle, parked at their home in Sewell, NJ last Friday, when the police say shooting happened.
Cops were called to the home on Tylers Mill Road on reports of a domestic dispute. They say they arrived to find that Donna Covely had fired his 9mm handgun several times into the truck. She is charged with making terroristic threats and a weapons violation. Covely has also been suspended indefinitely from her post as athletic director at Audubon High School.

Coaches getting caught in police sex sting operations has happened in the past and will likely happen in the future. But what are the odds that a Little League coach will fall for a fake Craigslist ad, from an “parent” claiming they were looking for someone to provide sexual “guidance” for their underage daughter, arrive at the sting house and then be arrested by a cop who’s kid played on the guy’s team?
This thing just has sick written all over it.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says a little league baseball coach is among the 15 men undercover detectives rounded up during an online sting to find child sex predators. While this wasn’t the first time Polk County sheriff’s detectives have targeted people who use the Internet to prey on children, there was one arrest that seemed to shock everybody.
“I don’t know who was the most surprised when the front door opened, him when he saw the sheriff’s detectives or the undercover sergeant who recognized him as his child’s youth baseball coach,” said Sheriff Judd.
Detectives say the coach, 33-year-old Tommy Dupre of St. Cloud, drove to the undercover home to have sex with a 14-year-old girl. Dupre is among the men who detectives say responded to a fake ad posted by an undercover detective posing as a parent on Web sites like Craigslist. The ads solicited guidance for their child, some as young as 8, but none over the age of 14.
In Dupre’s case, the undercover agent posed as a father soliciting “guidance” for his daughter. In the email exchanges with the undercover agent, detectives say Dupre expressed his desire to engage in sexual activity with the 14-year-old girl and even admitted to stopping by a gas station to buy condoms before arriving at the home.

We’re not exactly sure what “stomping” is–when it comes to hazing rituals–but we’re pretty sure we don’t want to have it demonstrated on us. How again is this supposed to make you feel a closer bond to your teammates?
High school football season is fast approaching and the reports of hazing have already started rolling in. The most recent is from Georgia:
Two DeKalb County high school football players were suspended Monday as school officials looked into two reports of hazing at a football camp. DeKalb County Deputy Chief Superintendent Bob Moseley told Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne that two players from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. High School were suspended and the district was looking into other incidents. Betty Bowden told Winne her son was one of the teenagers bullied at a recent camp. “I know seniors kinda pick on eighth graders. I understand that, trying to break ‘em in. But the stompin’ part and the fact that he was limping, I didn’t understand,” said Bowden. Bowden filed a police report with DeKalb County police accusing other students of slapping and stomping on her son. Bowden told Winne she didn’t believe the older boys intended to hurt her son, but she planned to move him to a private school.
