Thanks dad! Once again, adults are ruining youth sports. This time, a father of a sixth grader accused the ref and coaches of cheating during a game and afterward punched a league official who tried to calm things down.

An upset parent punched a youth basketball commissioner at a boys basketball game in Burnsville, according to police.  Police said Robin Johnson, 48, was upset about the referee’s time keeping and after the sixth graders game, accused the ref and couches of cheating.  According to the authorities, Johnson then hit the Burnsville Athletic Club Commissoner, Jeff Shand, in the head and face, knocking him unconscious.  Burnsville Police Sergeant Jeff Behnken said Johnson was arrested for fifth degree misdemeanor assault and interfering with an emergency call.

It’s been less than two years since Sean Sutton was pressured into resigning as the men’s basketball coach at OSU, but it seems a lot has happened in that short amount of time.

Former Oklahoma State basketball coach Sean Sutton was arrested and spent the night in jail for allegedly trying to obtain prescription painkillers from out of state. Authorities said he appeared to be suffering withdrawal symptoms before he was released Friday.

Sutton, 41, was arrested Thursday night, hours after he arrived to pick up a shipment of painkillers under another person’s name, said Mark Woodward, a spokesman for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.  A probable cause affidavit from bureau Agent Brian Surber said he spoke with Sutton at the jail Friday morning.

“I noticed Sutton’s profusely sweating and appearing in discomfort and asked him if he was experiencing withdrawals.” Sutton told the agent that “he was feeling symptoms of withdrawal and was going to ‘tough it out.’”

It’s been a wild couple of years for Crystal Mangum: first she claimed to have been raped by a bunch of lacrosse players at Duke University. Then she had to recant that story and say she lied about the whole thing and ruined the lives of several of the young men. Now, apparently, she’s having relationship trouble and–allegedly– tried to use arson to solve the problem. We normally suggest counseling.  At right, Crystal Mangum’s mug shot picture.

The stripper who falsely accused three Duke lacrosse players of rape nearly four years ago has been charged with attempted murder after a fight with her boyfriend.  Crystal Mangum, 31, was arrested on Wednesday on charges including arson and assault, according to police in Durham, North Carolina.  She was also charged with identity theft, communicating threats, damage to property, resisting an officer and misdemeanor child abuse. A judge ordered that she remain in jail on a $1 million bond. Mangum had no lawyer listed Thursday.

Authorities released audio of a 911 call in which a girl who said she was Mangum’s 9-year-old daughter called for help. The police said they found Mangum and her boyfriend, Milton Walker, fighting when they arrived at the home just before midnight. Mangum then went into a bathroom and set some clothes on fire in a bathtub, the police said. The single-story duplex had heavy smoke damage, but no one was hurt, a Durham fire department news release said.
