Oops. Then you probably should haven waited until she turned 18, coach.
A tennis coach from Florham Park has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his students, a 17-year-old girl, several times over a six-month-period, including at a tennis club in Long Hill Township, a golf course in Maplewood and a home in West Orange, authorities said today.

Perseo Negri, 34, was charged Thursday with two counts of sexual assault and one count of criminal sexual contact on the girl “while serving in the capacity as her tennis coach,” the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The alleged victim, now 18, told police on Jan. 7 that when she was 17 she had a consensual sexual relationship with Negri while he was her private tennis coach, according to an affidavit filed in Superior Court in Morristown.  The alleged victim said their first sexual encounter occurred last April 17 after a private lesson at tennis courts in West Orange. Eight more sexual encounters followed, between April 17 and Oct. 31, occurring inside the Copper Springs Beach & Tennis Club in the Gillette section of Long Hill Township, on the golf course of the Maplewood Country Club and at a home in West Orange, the affidavit states.

Negri allegedly told the girl “that she couldn’t tell anyone and that he didn’t want to go to jail for having sex with a minor,” the affidavit says.
