Roger Lau and Thomas Heinz, both 26 and of Medford, coached a Medford soccer league for girls age 14 and under from spring 2003 until summer 2004, when the assaults allegedly occured. Heinz was a head coach and Lau an assistant coach.

The alleged victim was 13 and 14 when the assaults took place. She told police that she had a sexual relationship with Lau for more than a year, and that Heinz assaulted her on two occasions.

“These are troubling allegations against two youth soccer coaches who we allege took advantage of their positions to sexually assault the victim when she was only 13 years old,” Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone said. “We allege that these coaches used their position in order to inappropriately contact, entice and manipulate this vulnerable victim into forging a sexual relationship.”
