Michigan State Dismisses Football Players After Dorm Assault Incident

The pieces are still coming together on this one that happened in BadJocks back yard, but it appears that two Michigan State University football players are off the team, and the reason may be an assault in a campus dorm. One of those booted, running back Glenn Winston, was only recently reinstated to the team after serving four months in jail for assaulting a member of the Spartan hockey team who has never fully recovered from his injuries.  The MSU student newspaper, The State News, had earlier reported on the incident that:

Witnesses and students involved in the incident said a group of 15 to 20 men, who some described as MSU football players, stormed into the dormitory and hit and injured about seven students, some of them women.

Our sources are telling us that when all the details of this ugly incident come out, Coach Mark Dantonio will be wishing he had never given Winston that second chance.

Michigan State has kicked two players off the football team Tuesday evening, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.  Sophomore running back Glenn Winston and junior safety Roderick Jenrette were dismissed for breaking team rules, according to the newspaper.

Hours before the dismissals, Michigan State’s student newspaper, The State News, reported that there was an assault at a campus dorm early Sunday morning and that some football players might have been involved. A Michigan State spokesman told the Free Press Tuesday that nobody has been charged in the incident, but wouldn’t confirm nor deny that football players were involved.
