"Freak Wind" Flips Golf Cart, Traps Players Underneath
We haven’t seen the police report on this one, but we’re call BS on a report that a “strong winds” flipped over a golf cart at the Beekman Country Club in East Fishkill, NY. Really? There was no booze or horseplay involved?
Police received a report at 1:19 p.m. of “a person pinned under a golf cart,” Sgt. Kevin Keefe said. When police arrived, the two golfers – one man was from Croton, the other from the Town of Cortlandt – had gotten out from under the golf cart. They suffered minor injuries, refused treatment and continued their game, he said.
The National Weather Service in Albany said a “dust devil” might be to blame. National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Villani said dry, clear conditions combined with wind and sunlight can cause “tiny little formations.” Villani likened them to eddy with “enough velocity to move objects.”
