Father Brawls With Opposing Players at High School Basketball Game

Thanks dad! More proof that parents are ruining not only little kids sports, but athletics for bigger kids as well. Take this story from the Poughkeepsie Journal:

A Town of Dover man is due in town court Tuesday after he was arrested for striking several Haldane High School players during a boys’ basketball game, authorities said. State police said the 41-year-old parent of a Dover High School player went onto the court Friday night after a scuffle broke out between the two teams during the game.The man allegedly punched several Haldane players. No one was seriously injured.The parent was charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

European Hooligans Brawl at . . . Australian Open Tennis Tournament?

Say what? We’ve got soccer hooligans in tennis now? And traveling all the way from Eastern Europe to Melbourne, Australia to do so. Here’s the basic report from the AP:

Insults, bottles and chairs were hurled back and forth in Melbourne on Friday between dozens of Bosnian and Serbian youths who had earlier peacefully watched an Australian Open tennis match.

Male Cheerleading Coach Accused of Sex With Underage Girls

Hmm, let’s see . . . a 23-year-old male cheerleading coach, a room full of perky underage girls with daddy issues . . . what could possibly gone wrong here? A lot, apparently. Not a lot of details yet, but we’re sure they will be coming out soon. Here’s the story from the Hattiesburg American:

A 23-year-old Sumrall man was arrested and charged with two counts of statutory rape and one count of child molestation. Zachary Riley, who coached cheerleading units at at least two area schools, was booked into the Lamar County Jail early Wednesday morning, Sheriff Danny Rigel said. Riley was scheduled to make his first appearance today in Lamar County Justice Court.
Details leading to the charges were unavailable Wednesday. Riley had worked on contract to teach routines to cheerleading squads at Purvis High and Presbyterian Christian School. Riley was not an employee of either school.
